I feel like "Julie and the phantoms" is a remake of an amazingly weird Brasilian series called "Julie e os fantasmas". In the original the ghosts can touch and move everything, but they're always invisible, so to play with Julie (whose mum is not dead btw) they wear costumes with masks and gloves (which in my opinion is a little more realistic). They have a hard time booking gigs because people always wanna see their faced behind the masks and they obviously refuse, so there's that drama added.

this is my absolute favorite comfort show. the first time i watched it i very much undermined it and thought it would be just some kids show that i could watch to fill time. nope! i fell in love w every character, the songs are fucking incredible, the CHEMISTRY, the EMOTIONS, its funny...every one liner by reggie or “...ok.” by alex always gets me. its just SO worth the watch no matter your age

I’ve just recently watched it and I really liked it! The characters are really nice and the plot’s pretty good. I don’t want to write any spoilers but I’d recommend watching a couple of episodes before deciding if you’re going to watch the full thing or not.

This is often how I feel about stuff like this. It's dumb but it's also harmless and cute enough, and as a 34 year old man, I'm not the target audience. However, if I had a tween daughter, I rather she watch this than some other stuff. It also seems well intentioned enough. Also, I appreciate it being a music focused show instead of a Twilight type thing, where they just push the whole the boyfriend or die theme. Tween dream type boys with a supernatural twist but more as a bonus to the young female viewership than some overt sexual push. Then coming out of the CD is a cute twist, but I would made them holograms or robots or something. Maybe they are a lost boy band who disappeared? That would solve some of the plot holes with them being ghosts. Also I have a soft spot for stuff like "Saved By The Bell" so I don't entirely hate it. I'm not going to watch it every week, but I get it's appeal to a younger crowd. Meh. It's fine.
